What is Hospice Care?

Hospice Care is a type of health care for terminally-ill patient that focuses on patient’s relief of symptoms, emotional and spiritual needs during the final stages of life.

Who is eligible for Hospice Care?

Patients with Terminal illness (with the life expectancy of 6 months or less) certified by the Physician.

Will my Advance Directives be honored?

Yes, it is your right to choose your Advance Directives. We do not require a DNR (Do not resuscitate) order, and we will review options with you.

What happens if a hospice patient’s condition improves?

If the patient’s condition improves, no longer terminally ill and/ or in remission, patients can be discharged from Blue Heights Hospice. If the discharged patient should later need to return to hospice care. Medicare and other insurance will allow coverage for this purpose.

Who pays for Hospice care?

Hospice care is a type of health care where Medicare and most major insurance completely covers the care.
